Who We Are

The Wichita Asian Association (WAA) is a non-profit organization which provides education and understanding of Asian culture, fosters cooperation among area Asian groups, and assists its members to become contributing and respected members of the community.

In August 1981, four Asians discussed about developing an organization with the following goals:

•  To promote cultural awareness among various Asian groups

•  To foster an understanding and appreciation of Asian cultures by the community at large

•  To strengthen awareness among youths of Asian ancestry and the legacy of their cultural roots

•  To provide opportunities for expression through diverse Asian cultural arts

WAA was formed in 1981 to accomplish these goals.

For over four decades, WAA has been active in the Wichita arts community.  From organizing the annual Wichita Asian Festival to sponsoring performances from artists located all over the world to partnering with other organizations in promoting education of Asian culture, WAA is fulfilling the mission set by its founders.

If you are interested in learning more about WAA, volunteering or becoming a member, please contact us via email or join us at a general meeting. WAA meetings are held from 3-4 p.m. on the final Sunday of each month at the Wichita Indochinese Center, 2502 E. Douglas Ave, at the corner of Douglas and S. Poplar in the Douglas Design District.
